vivo X Fold Plus Price: The starting price of the vivo X Fold Plus is about $1799 for the model with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This new vivo foldable phone will compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the market for the best foldable phone of 2022. Thus, the vivo X Fold+ is priced similarly to other foldable phones in the market.
As the successor to the previously released vivo X Fold, the X Fold Plus brings some new upgrades. So, along with its price, I’ll also share the vivo X Fold Plus specifications, its release date, and where you can buy the device.
vivo X Fold Plus
For those who don’t know, the vivo X Fold Plus is the second-generation book-like foldable phone from vivo. It’s the successor to the original vivo X Fold and it has the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm even though it has the same design as the first vivo X Fold.
To know more about the vivo X Fold Plus, allow me to break down the specifications of the smartphone starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.
Chipset, CPU, and GPU
The vivo X Fold+ features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This 5G chipset is built on TSMC’s 4nm process technology and is powerful and power efficient. This chipset/SoC has an Octa-core CPU with a maximum speed clocked at 3.2GHz. It has one high-performance Cortex-X2 core with a speed clocked at 3.2GHz, three big-efficiency Cortex-A710 cores with a speed clocked at 2.75GHz, and four small-efficiency Cortex-A510 cores with a speed clocked at 1.80GHz.
The CPU cores are paired with the Adreno 730 GPU. This chipset has impressive fast and power-efficient CPU cores. Its GPU is also very good when it comes to rendering graphics and playing graphics-intensive games. Other exciting features of this chipset are that it has support for LPDDR5 RAM tech, UFS 3.1 storage, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and can record videos in 8K resolution. The peak download and upload speeds of this chipset are 10Gbps and 5Gbps respectively.
vivo X Fold Plus has four rear cameras, one camera on the outer display, and another camera on the inner display (a total of six cameras). On the rear, it has a 50MP primary camera with 1.0µm Dual Pixel PDAF, f/1.8 aperture, Laser AF, and OIS features. This primary camera is supported by an 8MP periscope telephoto lens with an f/3.4 aperture, 125mm focal length, 5x optical zoom, and OIS.
The second telephoto lens is a 12MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 47mm focal length, and can do 2x optical zoom. Then a 48MP 114˚ ultra-wide camera completes the four rear cameras. The inner screen and outer screen (when folded and unfolded) both have a 16MP camera sensor. This brings the total number of cameras on the vivo x Fold+ to six camera sensors.
Available camera features include Zeiss optics, Zeiss T* lens coating, Dual-LED flash, panorama, HDR, Laser AF, OIS, gyro-EIS, etc. The 50MP main camera can record steady videos at [email protected] and [email protected]/60fps while the 16MP front cameras can record videos at [email protected]
Display, Design, and Durability
When it is opened (or unfolded), the vivo X Fold Plus has a massive 8.03-inches display. This is a Foldable LTPO AMOLED with support for a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. But when the vivo X Fold+ is folded (closed), it has a 6.53-inches AMOLED display that also supports a 120Hz fresh rate. The outer display can be used as you would a normal phone if you don’t want to use the wider inner screen.
When unfolded, the dimension of the vivo X Fold+ about is 162 x 144.9 x 6.3 mm, and when folded, its dimension is about 162 x 74.5 x 14.6 mm. It weighs about 311g (10.97 oz) and it has support for Nano-SIM. The phone is made of a Glass front (folded), plastic front (unfolded), leather back, and aluminum frame.
The volume rocker and power button of the vivo X Fold Plus are on the right side of its frame. It has a microphone, speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port located on the bottom frame. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack port and no microSD card slot for storage expansion.
RAM, Storage, and Battery
The vivo X Fold+ has one RAM paired with two internal storage options. It comes with 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage storage. As stated above, you can not expand the phone’s storage via a shared microSD card slot. The RAM and storage option you’ll get may vary depending on your location.
A 4600mAh non-removable battery powers the vivo X Fold+ and it has support for an 80W wired fast charging. It also has support for 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The 80W wired fast charger can charge the 4,600mAh battery from 0 to 100% in about 35 minutes.
Software and Sensors
The vivo X Fold+ boots Origin OS Ocean based on Android 12 out of the box. This phone is expected to get at least three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security patches. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.
vivo X Fold Plus features an optical under-display fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, and support for Google Assistant. Other sensors and features are an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, color spectrum, barometer, NFC, A-GPS, NavIC, 24-bit/192kHz audio, Wi-Fi Direct, etc.
