Tecno announced the Phantom X2 Series in an event that was held in Dubai on Dec 7. The Phantom X2 series is composed of the Tecno Phantom X2 vs Phantom X2 Pro. A good amount of people are confused about which out of these two to get. Hence, this post will detail the differences and similarities between both smartphones.

Prices | Availability

The most expensive of these two smartphones is the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro. It has a starting price of $920 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. While the normal Phantom X2 is cheaper with a starting price of $720 for the 8/256 GB model. In terms of their availability, the Phantom X2 Series is now available for purchase in Dubai. It will be available in Africa soon.

Display | Durability

These two smartphones have similar display features. There’s a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with curved edges, and 120Hz refresh rate support and for durability’s sake, both smartphones are protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Additionally, under the panel is a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Camera

As for the camera setup, the Phantom X2 Pro takes the gold medal. It features a 50MP primary camera, 50MP retractable telephoto lens, 13MP ultra-wide, and 32MP selfie camera. While the vanilla Phantom X2 has a 64MP OIS main cam, 13MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro, and 32MP Selfie Camera. Note that all the lenses on Phantom X2 Pro have AutoFocus.

Performance | Software

In terms of performance- both smartphones are powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The Pro model has 12GB RAM while the vanilla model has 8GB RAM. However, both come with 256GB storage. There’s a microSD slot for storage expansion too.

Software-wise, the Phantom X2 Series boot HiOS 12 UI on top of Android 12 out of the box. Unfortunately, Tecno is not promising any years of OS updates yet. So put that in mind.

Tecno Phantom X2 vs Phantom X2 Pro: Battery

Both smartphones have a 5,160 mAh battery capacity with a 45W fast charging system. But there’s no wireless or reverse charging technology.

Honestly, you’ll have to be a core Tecno fan to spend $900 for the Phantom X2 Pro. The reason because many other worthy smartphones are way cheaper than the Phantom X2 Series. The likes of the Google Pixel 7 Series, iQOO Neo 7 SE, vivo X90, iPhone 14, OPPO Reno 9 series, etc. The Tecno Phantom X2 series is not in our top 10 smartphones to get for this price.
