Sony ZV-1F vs Sony ZV-1: Should you upgrade to the new Sony ZV-1F camera? Mind you, both cameras are two years apart. Yet, they share more similarities than differences. In this post, we’re going to compare the Sony ZV-1F vs Sony ZV-1. Let’s get started and make sure to read to the very end to see our verdict.
Release Date and Availability
The original Sony ZV-1 camera was launched in May 2020. And ever since then, it has been readily available for purchase. While the Sony ZV-1F was announced on October 13th, 2022 and sales commenced a few weeks after (late October to be precise).
Price
Even though the Sony ZV-1F is the newest kid on the block, Sony somehow made it cheaper than its predecessor. It is priced at $499, which is way cheaper than its predecessor- Sony ZV 1. Back then in 2020 when the Sony ZV-1 was introduced, it came at a starting price of $749. When compared to now, the latest ZV-1F is cheaper.
Sensor and Quality
The Sony ZV-1F vs Sony ZV-1 features the same 20.1MP 1-inch sensor. However, instead of the variable lens on the ZV-1, the latest ZV-1F comes with a 20mm (35mm equivalent) f2.0 fixed prime lens. This gives the Sony ZV-1F an edge over the ZV-1, because it provides a large field of view, making it suitable for hand-held vlogging.
Both cameras can record 4K video at up to 30fps. And both have a built-in directional 3-capsule microphone with a bundled windscreen. Even the ports on both cameras are almost alike except the Sony ZV-1F comes with a USB-C port instead of the micro USB.

Sony ZV-1F vs Sony ZV-1: Verdict
The Sony ZV-1F camera can’t be ignored because of its price of $499. As it stands, it is even cheaper than its predecessor. However, the similarities between these two cameras are many, and the differences are almost not there. The Sony ZV-1F is slightly better than the Sony ZV-1. But if you have the latter, I’ll recommend you keep it because the differences between these two cameras are very minimal.
