Snapdragon 782G vs MediaTek Dimensity 1080: The Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G is faster than the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with up to 18% speed. Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 782G as a replacement for the Snapdragon 778G+.

Tech companies use both chipsets to power their midrange smartphones. And from the research carried out by our team, smartphones that are powered by Snapdragon 782G chipset are slightly more expensive than that Dimensity 1080 powered phones.

On Geekbench 5, the Snapdragon 782G chip had 840 points on single-core and 2,812 on multi-core. While the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 had 845 single-core and 2,377 multi-core points. The differences in single-core may be insignificant but on multi-core, the difference is up to 18% in favor of the Snapdragon 782G chipset.

In terms of their CPU configuration, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 has 8 cores with 2+6 settings. 2x core with a speed of 2.6GHz, and 6x cores with a speed of 2.0GHz. In contrast, the Snapdragon 782G has 8-cores but with 1+3+4 settings. The frequency is higher. The prime 1x core is clocked at 2.7GHz, the 3x Core is clocked at 2.4GHz and the 4x cores have a speed of 1.8GHz.

Both chipsets are built on a 6nm node, but the Snapdragon 782G chipset is superior. The Honor 80 is the first smartphone to use the Snapdragon 782G SoC. while the likes of Redmi Note 12 Pro Series and Realme 10 Pro+ use the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset.
